Park in a Truck: Shed

Designed for Jefferson Landscape’s Park in a Truck initative, this group project involved us developing, designing, revising, and constructing a full-sized park shed to be placed at a community park within Philadelphia.

This project was many of our first time seeing through a design from iteration to development to finalization, ending up with a human-scaled tangible product made with our own sweat. Though laborious, this was an engaging challenge that asked us to see beyond the computer screen.

As a community-driven project, we were also tasked with developing clear and comprehensive step-by-step instructions so that a group of volunteers could recreate the shed on their own in an afternoon or so. Breaking it down into steps allowed us to get a feel for just how joints came together and how structure translates to stability.

Working closely with my groupmates replicated how a community would come together to establish their park. As dedicated designers, there was no shortage of ideas and solutions. When someone needed help,
