Medicinal Garden

LARC-312 Sustainable Planting Design | Professor Kimberlee Douglas | Spring 2025

AutoCAD, Procreate, Adobe Illustrator

This project focused on the design of a medicinal garden behind one of Jefferson’s facilities buildings. After surveying the site and conducting a complete site analysis, we selected plants according to their medicinal value and their ability to thrive within the site’s sunlight, moisture, and hardiness conditions.

My proposal created an ambulatory garden defined by a looping path that guides visitors through lush, layered planting and encourages full engagement with the space. The design allows people to move slowly, harvest as they go, and experience the garden as a restorative landscape within the pace of campus life. A central green provides space for gathering and small events, while smaller pocket respites create quieter opportunities to sit, pause, and feel immersed in nature.
